Our members are fiber enthusiasts with primary interests in handweaving, spinning, felting, and basketry. You will also find knitters, dyers, surface designers, beadworkers and quilters among our members. We have been coming together at Iowa Federation meetings for over 50 years!
Local guilds take turns hosting the statewide meetings each spring and fall. At these meetings members are often inspired by nationally known speakers, or learn new fiber techniques. And we enjoy sharing our current fiber projects and completed work. Popular Choice awards are given for fiber work in several categories, and vendors often attend.
Membership is open to any individual with an interest in fiber arts. Dues are $4 for a lifetime membership plus $4 every four years for newsletter expenses (prorated if a person joins in the middle of our four year cycle). Dues can be paid at Federation meetings.
Payment of dues entitles a member to vote on by-law revisions and adds their name to the mailing list for Iowa Federation newsletters.
Additional fees ($15-25 is common) are charged to those attending Iowa Federation meetings to cover meeting expenses.
Check the Meetings link for the date and location of our next meeting, and plan to join us! Fiber arts guilds can be found across the State of Iowa. These are the member guilds of the Iowa Federation of Handweavers and Spinners. These guilds and their membership have kept the Iowa Federation strong for over 50 years! Thank you!
