The Fall 2019 Iowa Federation meeting will be hosted by the Oneota Weavers Guild of Decorah on Saturday September 7.  The Meeting will be held at the Vesterheim Norwegian American Museum's Westby-Torgerson building, 3rd floor, 502 West Water Street Decorah, IA

10:15 am                  Mary Hark - Papermaking

                    Mary will speak about her own artwork, a series titled Driftless Reveries.   The artworks respond to the

                    physical topography of Central Minnesota and South-Central Wisconsin, and the built environment of

                    Kumasi, Ghana, where she spends several months each year.   She will explore the intrinsic properties of

                    handmade paper and will also talk about some of her projects in the U.S. and abroad to grow flax and

                    teach papermaking.

11:15 am                    Barb Berg will give a short presentation about her weaving business, I Weave What I Believe,

                                    and the opportunity to purchase her business.

2:00 pm - 3:00 pm        Maria Amalia Wood - "Tengo un Nombre"  (I have a name)

                        Her presentation showcases her creative research making use of handmade paper and mixed media

                         informed by a collaborative art project, Sone una Milpa (I Dreamed of a Corn Field), that celebrates

                         the important, though often hidden experience of then Latina immigrant women.  Her body of work

                         refers to elusive memories of a remembered place and a life lived between cultures.
